Ogun old secretariat turns swimming pool

The old Ogun state secretariat, opposite Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital has become a shadow of itself where sprouting of water has become something else in the area.

A visit to the location revealed that the former revered location has become a swimming pool, dumping and defecation site.

Saga Gist reports that the buildings on the said location were pulled down with the intention of turning the place into a commercial centre.

Contractors had been working on the site for a while but operations ceased following an undisclosed situation.

Investigation by Saga Gist showed that the area is water prone as streams gathered on the said location in no time.

Despite sand filling made by the contractors on the site to pave way for a solid foundation before erecting the proposed structures, there were still heavy pool of water whenever it rained.

This sprouting of water has amassed into what could be described as a swimming pool and children often find fun in coming over to cool off.

While the decision of what the location was meant for and when the contractors would return to site could not be ascertained, school children would continue to catch fun at the old state secretariat turned pool.
