Imo attack: Police debunk killing of two, arrest five suspected gunmen

 

The Imo State Police has disclosed that no life was lost during the clash between its operatives and some gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday.

The command made its position known through a press release signed by the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bala Elkana.

The command said the operatives of the Orji Divisional Police Headquarters had engaged some hoodlums who attempted to invade the headquarters which is currently under reconstruction.

The station, according to the release, was among those razed by unidentified hoodlums during the EndSARS period.

The command further disclosed that five gunmen were arrested during the clash and are currently in the State police net.

It gave their names as Casmir Ibe, John Chinomso, Chukwudi Okoro, Alozie Daberechi and Chigaemezu Sebastian, all within the ages of 24 to 36years.

Meanwhile, two persons were reportedly killed by stray bullets at Orji axis of Owerri during the attack, while several others sustained various degrees of injuries.
