Osun workers to Oyetola: Pay our salary arrears, pensions

Government employees in Osun State have requested the State Government to pay the outstanding arrears of their salaries and pensions.

The workers, under the aegis of the Osun State Joint Labour Movement, made their demand known in a letter served to the State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Monday.

In the letter, which was dated February 7, 2022, and jointly signed by the Joint Negotiating Council Chairman, Bayo Adejumo, Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Jacob Adekomi, and the Chairman, Trade Union Congress, Adekola Adebowale on Wednesday, the labour movement also demanded payment of four months cooperative deductions.

According to them, the deductions formed part of the monthly salaries of some categories of workers for the months of June 2019, and April, through June, 2020.

While reminding the Governor that the implementation of nominal promotions and conversions have not seen the light of the day, it noted with concern the non-payment of the cooperative deductions of monthly salaries, adding that the immediate payment of the deductions shall be appreciated.

The workers also demanded the giving of financial effect to workers’ promotions from November 1, 2021 and the implementation of nominal promotions and conversion.

The workers also demanded the immediate release of the circular for the implementation of nominal promotions and conversions spanning 2019 and 2021.
