2 suspected drug dealers killed in gun duel with NDLEA


 

Two suspected drug dealers have been killed in a fierce gun battle with operatives of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agent (NDLEA), in Taraba State.

It was learnt that the incident which occurred on Tuesday at ATC, in Jalingo, has ignited tension in the community.

Confirming the report, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdullahi Usman, said six persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the incident.

He admitted that only one person was killed in the incident when the NDLEAtried to arrest a suspected drug dealer.

An eyewitness who claimed to be the Chairman of traders in the Yam market where the incident happened said the hoodlums pounced on the men of the NDLEA during the suspect’s arrest.

The eyewitness who gave his name as Tarhour Memga said the hoodlums would have overpowered the NDLEA men but for their braveness.

Another eyewitness said the activities of hoodlums in the area, was fast becoming a source of worry, calling on security operatives to collaborate and flush them out.

He tasked the Governor to give the NDLEA the much-needed support to flush out drug addicts from the area and the state at large, warning that their activities, if not checkmated, would escalate crime in the state.

Though the spokesperson person of the NDLEA could not be reached as of the time of filing this report, an official of the Command told our reporter that the men of the command would not be weighed down.
