A bus driver and two other persons have died in a road crash at Gofamint Junction, in Ogunmakin, along the Lagos-Ibadan highway, Ogun State.
It was learnt that the accident occurred at about 10:55pm on Tuesday, involving four men and two women.
Confirming the incident, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said, “one person was injured, a male adult, and unfortunately three deaths were recorded from the road traffic crash – one man and two women.”
The FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe said that, “the male adult is the bus driver, who is currently trapped inside the vehicle, effort is ongoing to remove the trapped body.”
Okpe said a mini truck (Van), with registration number, YYY457YY and a Toyota Hiace bus marked, DUI187FST, rammed into each other.
She blamed the accident on the truck driver, who she said engaged in excessive speed and route violation.
“The suspected causes of the fatal accident were excessive speed and route violation on the part of the Van driver, which led to head-on collision,” she said.
It was gathered that the injured victim was taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at FOS morgue, Ipara.
The FRSC, while commiserating with the family of the crash victims, advised motorists to drive cautiously, avoid route violation, speed and apply common sense speed limit, especially at night.
