Tom Cleverley, a former Manchester United midfielder, has retired from professional football with immediate effect.
Cleverley has been plagued by injuries and has called time on his playing career at English club, Watford.
The 33-year-old, however, looks set to remain at Watford in a coaching capacity.
His retirement was confirmed in a tweet via Watford’s official Twitter handle on Saturday.
“Watford FC confirms that club captain Tom Cleverley is retiring from football as a result of injury,” Watford tweeted.
